A Letter from our new Director

A New Chapter at VST: My Journey to Supporting Veteran Well-being

VST community,

I am incredibly honored and thrilled to introduce myself as the new Executive Director of Veterans Service Team (VST). As I step into this role, I’m excited to share a bit about my personal journey and what drew me to this remarkable organization.

After four years in the Infantry, I transitioned out with a profound understanding of the unique challenges and experiences our service members face. This led me directly into non-profit work, where I dedicated myself to assisting veterans grappling with mental health and addiction issues. It was a privilege to support my fellow service members during their most difficult times, and it solidified my commitment to their well-being.

Throughout my career (which includes some time as a clinical nutritionist in hospital settings) I’ve held a deeply rooted belief in the transformative power of the gut-brain axis. The science is compelling: appropriate supplementation, probiotics, and thoughtful lifestyle changes can have a profound impact on overall health, especially mental wellness. I've seen firsthand how an integrated approach to health can make a significant difference. I’ve seen it out in the field, I’ve seen it in clinics and hospitals, and I’ve felt it in my own gut.

It was an old Army buddy, SSG Walker who first introduced me to VST, and I was immediately captivated. The organization's dedication to cutting-edge scientific research and its commitment to improving veterans' lives through innovative, evidence-based solutions resonated deeply with my own convictions. The opportunity to combine my passion for veteran support with my belief in the power of gut health feels like a perfect fit.

I am truly thrilled to be here, leading VST into its next chapter. I believe in our mission, the science behind it, and the community that champions our vision. I look forward to working alongside all of you – our dedicated staff, volunteers, future partners, and most importantly, our strong member base – as we continue to advance scientific understanding of real, “whole-person” wellness and deliver impactful therapeutic solutions. Together, we can bring in some real change.

V/R,

W. Chase Cameron
